Epsom & Ewell Silver Band is a brass band based in Epsom, Surrey. We compete in the first section in the London & Southern Counties region after promotion in two successive years, and the band is also a member of the Southern Counties Amateur Band Association. We also hold regular concerts, and perform at local community events year round.

Ted Howard - musical director

Ted has been conducting Epsom & Ewell since January 2004. He has had a great deal of experience with all types and styles of music. He has played in brass bands, army bands, orchestras, dance bands, jazz bands and German oompah bands. He has conducted army bands, brass bands and amateur theatre productions.

Ted spent twenty years in the army serving with the bands of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Band Corps. More recently he has been involved in conducting brass bands and has conducted the RICS band (later renamed as Watership Brass), Basingstoke Silver Band, Cosham Concert Brass, New Forest Brass, Blendworth Brass Band and the Cobham Band.

In the period that he was with Cosham Concert Brass he brought them from a non-contesting band to a nationally graded second section band and a championship section graded band within the Wessex Brass Band Association. Also he took Cosham Concert Brass to the national finals in both the fourth and third sections on three occasions.

He is a member of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors and also sits on the Executive Council.
