Centenary concert success

Our long-awaited Centenary Concert took place in Bourne Hall on July 24th, and was a great success - a full house, an awe-inspiring soloist and an excellent performance from the band. It was good to see so many former players, and a great time was had by all.

A full write up will follow later, but for now here are some new photographs of the band and our guest soloist for you to enjoy.

I've just noticed that the time on our website for the Centenary Concert tomorrow (24th July) has been displaying as 8.30 to 11.00pm - please note this is a MISTAKE and the correct time is 7.30 to 10.00pm. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

Exhibition of band history - Bourne Hall museum

David Thornton to play at centenary concert

We are delighted to announce that for our centenary concert at Bourne Hall on the 24th of July we will be joined by David Thornton, principal euphonium with Black Dyke Band. David will be playing some solos for us, and it will be a great opportunity for the band to play with such a talented player. Don't miss what will undoubtedly be a first class performance.

Results - Area Contest at Stevenage

After a long day of travel, rehearsal and waiting around, we came away with... well, not quite the wooden spoon this year! Last year we came second from last, and this year we managed a further step up to 15th of 17. It looks like we'll cling on to the first section for next year - so we've got a year of hard work to try and make sure we stay there.

Centenary Concert - final date set

The date for our special Centenary summer concert at Bourne Hall in Ewell has finally been decided! It will take place on the evening of Saturday 24th July 2010. We will be inviting as many ex-band members as we can as well as a top class soloist and maybe even a special guest or two! We will be playing music spanning the last hundred years and there should be something for everybody.
